Summary:

A Good First Edition, first printing of Edith Nesbit's children's adventure - being the first of the Bastable family stories.

Description:

Hardback, 8vo (approx 8 inches / 20.5 cm tall), xii + 296 pages with seventeen mono illustrations (including tissue-guarded frontispiece) in Good to Very Good condition (small patches of moderate edge soiling to the plates opposite pages 84, 161 and 254) and an undated ten page publisher's catalogue at the rear.

Book Condition - Good:

Moderate to significant general wear, rubbing and moisture soiling to the original green boards and spine (no internal moisture penetration, spine heavily faded with gilt lettering / illustration only faintly visible), gilt front board lettering and illustration faded but still clear and bright.

Securely bound (a couple instances of early internal separation but no loose pages), browning to endpapers, all text block edges gilt (a little rubbed and dulled but still very bright), no previous ownership inscriptions, occasional light paper creasing and a couple very short paper edge nicks, intermittent light (very occasionally moderate) soiling and foxing but overall internally very clean and clear.
