A First Edition, first printing of this children's book about Abu Ali, son of Aladdin. Due to this story the author was invited to write the original screenplay for "The Wizard Of Oz" (subsequently modified by two other writers who share the joint-screenwriting credit).
Internally Good but in obvious need of rebinding.
Hardback, 4to (approx 11.5 x 8 inches / 29 x 20cm), 143 + [blank] pages with twenty illustrations.
Book Condition: Externally - Poor; Internally - Good:
Very heavy general wear and soiling to the original green boards, spine strip almost detached and glue repaired in two places, boards attached but front hinge very weak and effectively broken (rear hinge fully intact),
Text block firm, child's neatly written name on the front free endpaper (areas of abrasion above it where a previously inked name has been carefully erased) with the same name and "Belongs To" also neatly written but largely erased from the half title, small Times Book Club sticker on the rear pastedown, moderate to significant browning / foxing to endpapers and text block edges, occasional creasing and paper edge wear, intermittent mostly light internal foxing / soiling (very occasional moderate foxing) but overall internally Good with brightly coloured illustrations and easily readable throughout.
