A Good First Edition, first printing of John Betjeman's autobiographical collection of poems (Copyright page states "First Edition 1960" with no other printings noted). Signed "J. Betjeman" on the Title Page without dedication and with no other ownership names or inscriptions.
Comprises nine poems including "The Dawn Of Guilt", "Highgate", "Marlborough" and "Cornwall In Adolescence".
Please Note: The dust jacket states there is also a "numbered and signed" Limited Edition available priced at six guineas, however this listing is for a signed copy of the standard edition.
Hardback, 8vo (approx 9 x 6.5 inches / 23 x 16cm), [viii] + 111 + [blank] pages with decorated endpapers and illustrated head-pieces.
Book Condition - Good:
Light general wear to the original blind-stamped green boards and spine (light bruising to spine extremities and to rear board bottom corner tip), gilt spine lettering clear and bright.
Securely bound with hinges fully intact and text block sound, moderate to significant browning / foxing to endpapers and text block edges, intermittent light to moderate internal foxing but overall internally Good on light cream coloured paper in a very clean condition.
Dust Jacket Condition - Good Minus:
Moderate edge wear (a couple very short closed edge tears repaired to the reverse with archive quality film), moderate to significant browning and surface rubbing to spine, spots of light soiling to the bottom of the front panel with a short biro squiggle to the top edge, not price clipped.
