A Good First Edition of Henry Cave's atmospheric drawings of old buildings in York in the very early 1800s. All forty large format mono illustrations plus the frontispiece have been confirmed present as indexed in Good+ to Very Good condition.
Hardback, Folio (approx 14.5 inches / 36 cm tall), iv + 21 text pages plus frontis and forty plates (light to moderate offsetting from illustrations to the plain reverse of the adjoining plate or text page, intermittent very light to moderate foxing).
Book Condition - Good:
Moderate to significant general wear and some spots of light soiling to the imitation morocco boards and spine, tipped-on front board illustration moderately browned but compete and very clear (the same illustration is used for the frontis).
Securely bound with hinges intact but with stitching visible throughout and a couple instances of moderate separation, no previous ownership inscriptions, light to moderate browning / foxing to text block edges (bottom edge untrimmed), intermittent mostly light internal foxing / soiling (occasional moderate foxing), overall internally Good+ in a clean and clear condition.
