A Good First Edition of Arthur Conan Doyle's collection of 11 Sherlock Holmes stories that were originally published in the Strand Magazine. Each story has mono illustrations by Sidney Paget.
It was with the publication of this book and the original 'Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' printed in 1892 that Conan Doyle achieved international fame ('Miller's Collecting Modern Books').
Book Condition - Good: Hardback, 8vo, 279 pages.
Moderate to significant bumping / rubbing to spine extremities and corners, moderate soiling to blue bevelled edge boards with significant soiling to the fore and bottom edges of the front board, spine faded / rubbed, gilt front board lettering still bright, all text block edges gilt, floral endpapers, boards firmly attached but front hinge cracked with webbing visible and instances of early to moderate internal separation (no loose pages), gift inscription on top edge of Title page (dated 1894), light soiling and light to moderate foxing throughout (heavy foxing on a small number of pages), overall internally Good in a clean and easily readable condition.
