A Good First Edition of this account of the author's experiences among the local inhabitants and wildlife of Patagonia in the latter years of the 19th Century.
Issued in an un-numbered Limited Edition of 1,750 copies - please note this copy is in the second issue binding with "J. M. Dent & Co." in gilt at the bottom of the spine.
Book Condition - Good: Hardback, 8vo (approx 9 inches / 23 cm tall), vi + 256 pages with twenty seven mono illustrations (including the frontispiece) in Good to Very Good condition and four pages of reviews for the author's "The Naturalist In La Plata" and other books on natural history at the rear.
Moderate general wear and light soiling to the original purple boards but significant fading to the top edges and spine, gilt spine lettering faded but still legible, gilt front board decoration clear and bright, securely bound with hinges intact and text block firm, no previous ownership inscriptions, moderate to significant browning / foxing to text block edges, moderate foxing to prelims (as far as the half title), thereafter only very occasional light internal foxing / soiling, overall internally Very Good in a clean and clear condition.
