A Very Good First Edition of Donald Maxwell's illustrated account of his travels in Mesopotamia (now mostly comprising Iraq with small areas of Syria, Turkey and Iran) on behalf of the Imperial War Museum c1919.
Hardback, 4to (approx 10 inches / 26 cm tall), xii + 124 pages with mono sketches and maps, twenty eight colour / mono plates in Good to Very Good condition and a two page publisher's catalogue at the rear.
Book Condition - Very Good:
Light general wear to the original green cloth boards and fawn cloth spine (light shelf wear to bottom edges with small amounts of underlying boards visible at corner tips), very light browning to spine cloth with gilt lettering clear and bright.
Securely bound with hinges fully intact and text block sound, no previous ownership inscriptions, top edge blue, light to moderate browning to endpapers and text block edges (fore and bottom edges untrimmed), very occasional mostly light internal foxing (moderate foxing to the edges of two plates and their adjoining text pages), overall internally Very Good on cream coloured paper in a clean and clear condition throughout.
