A Very Good First Edition of this illustrated children's story. Written and illustrated by H. G. Wells whilst convalescing at a friend's house and not originally intended for publication.

Description:

Hardback, 4to (approx 10 x 8.5 inches / 26 x 21cm), 45 pages + [blank] with colour illustrations throughout.

Book Condition - Very Good:

Light general wear to the original paper covered boards and brown cloth spine (boards lightly bowed with light to moderate browning to the edges, moderate rubbing to top and bottom edges), front board lettering and illustration clear and fresh, securely bound with hinges fully intact, no previous ownership inscriptions, light to moderate browning / foxing to the plain endpapers, half title and text block edges, occasional mostly very light internal foxing / soiling, overall internally Very Good in a clean and clear condition.

Jacket Condition - Fair:

Significant edge wear with loss (a number of mostly short closed tears repaired to the reverse with archive quality film), moderate shelf wear and rubbing, significant browning to the gold-foil on the flaps, not price clipped. Fully enclosed in an easily removable library cover as photographed.
